Bruce French is a multidisciplinary artist reaching for whatever medium he feels he needs to use to make his mark, from 2D oil painting and inks, to clay, steel and plaster concrete sculptures.
French graduated from Central St Martin’s in 1995. Whilst continuing his fine art practice he also follows a parallel path as a scenographer designing for some of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world.
His work often forms a visual and autobiographical diary in which he records mass emotion through the simplest lines of oil, charcoal and sculptures. Despite the faceless distorted nature of his works, the portraits are always drawn from ‘life’, whether in person or via technology.
